Boojum Ridge

A variety of cacti set in front of a distinct mountain ridge is a common sight throughout much of Baja, although the Boojum trees, the odd, lanky trees with the flowers on top, typically only bloom from July through September. I had no idea what they were at the time of taking this photo, but I liked that I had never seen anything like them before and thought that the excess of blooms seemed so out of place in the desert, which made me feel very fortunate to have experienced them. They contributed to making this road trip extra special.
