While scouting off-the-beaten-path surf setups in Baja, Mexico, I hiked up a small mountain and was stoked to find these huge lefts breaking off a big rock at the base of a cliff on the other side. Big swell lines were sweeping across the Pacific Ocean that day—New Year's Eve, December 31, 2023. The swell was massive: 10 feet at 17 seconds.
